IGOR IURIEVICH DOLMATOV, DIRECTOR OF NSCMB FEB RAS, IS AWARDED THE MEDAL OF THE ORDER FOR SERVICES TO THE FATHERLAND, II DEGREE

Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin signed an executive order on awarding Igor Iurievich Dolmatov, Director of the NSCMB FEB RAS, Corresponding Member of RAS, the Medal of the Order for Services to the Fatherland, II degree.

The entire staff of the A.V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Centre of Marine Biology, FEB RAS, heartily congratulated Igor Iurievich Dolmatov with this Russia’s high award.

The Executive Order of the RF President V.V. Putin was published on Monday, 5 February 2024, on the Official Law Information web-site.

This Russian Federation’s award was given to Dolmatov in honor of the 300th Anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences foundation and is a recognition of Igor Iurievich’s enduring commitment to the development of science in Russia, as well as many years of remarkable contributions and professionalism.

Igor Iurievich Dolmatov, Dr.Sc., is a notable specialist in developmental biology, evolutionary morphology and molecular biology. He wrote over 200 scientific works, including 1 monograph and 1 patent. Dolmatov proposed a hypothesis on the mesothelial origin of somatic muscles in deuterostomes and the emergence of satellite cells in vertebrates; determined polyphyletic origin of regeneration; discovered cell transdifferentiation in echinoderms and identified the main transcription factors and genes involved in this process; studied transcriptomes and revealed molecular mechanisms of morphogenesis in several species of echinoderms and crustaceans.
