NEW LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM COMPONENTS BEING INSTALLED AT PRIMORSKY AQUARIUM

New components of the aquatic life support system (LSS), 115 centrifugal pumps with a power up to 3.6 kW have recently arrived in the Primorsky Aquarium.

These rather expensive devices, worth over 47 million rubles, were bought due to sponsorship from the Public Joint Stock Company Transneft (PJSC Transneft). The company supports a range of socially relevant projects, including scientific and educational initiatives.

It is a matter of strategic importance for the Primorsky Aquarium to renew the pumps, because they keep water moving in the tanks, pools and aquariums, which is vital for the health of the aquatic organisms residing there.

The current pumps have been used at the Aquarium since 2015. They are all worn out and thus should be repaired or replaced. As Maksim Bevz, Principal Technologist of the LSS Maintenance Department, told us, the main problem is that each tank or aquarium is connected to a group of pumps of certain models produced outside Russia and they must be replaced only with the same pump models according to the design documentation. It is a tough task now considering the present political situation.

“Transneft has extensive experience in responding to the most difficult challenges,” said Dmitrii Kleiankin, CEO of the Transneft- Kozmino Port LLC. “We’ve carried out huge projects throughout Russia, including construction of the Primorsky Aquarium. And our experts know a thing or two about pumps. They analyzed the characteristics of the pumps at the Aquarium, the models needed and the companies to order from within two to three weeks. Then they involved several Transneft subsidiaries in the purchasing process, and the desired result was achieved.”

“The remarkably efficient work of all Transneft offices is beyond praise,” commented Olga Shevchenko, Director of the Primorsky Aquarium. “All the actions taken by the Transneft members were perfectly coordinated. They completed the whole series of difficult tasks in less than a year. I would say it was valuable help not only for Primorsky Krai, but for the whole country, taking into account that our Aquarium is the largest in Russia.”

“I am first time at the Primorsky Aquarium and I’m impressed by the variety of animals and plants under its care and by the scope of its scientific research and educational activity,” shared Marat Nureev, Deputy Director of the Technical Development and Oil Pipeline Transportation Department, Transneft. “This institution significantly contributes to environmental education and scientific research in Primorsky Krai and Russia.”

PJSC Transneft has been awarded a plaque recognizing its efforts in social policy, its support to scientific and educational activity in the Russian Far East and its contribution to the renewal of the material and technical facilities of the Primorsky Aquarium.
