A great and noisy celebration, Day of Sea Wonders, has been held at the Primorsky Aquarium, featuring fairytale characters, fascinating hands-on activities and an awesome treasure hunt.
“We annually celebrate Sea Monsters’ Day. It is a Halloween, but adapted to the Aquarium. This time we decided to set the frightening part aside and to embark on something more beautiful. We chose Russian fairy tales, which can enchant and bewitch similarly to Halloween or even more. Of course, the major goal for us was not just to entertain, but to talk to the community, to educate it,” said Mikhail Kornienko, Head of the Environmental Education Division.
November 4th was a windy and cold day, but nevertheless, more than 400 young and old visitors came to learn about sea wonders.
As the guests entered the Aquarium, they immediately delved into the magical world of the event and were greeted with the first and foremost question: “Who is the main character of the Primorsky Aquarium’s fairytale?”
They took part in a themed The Forest of Miracles tour, tried their hands in creative workshops, including the one provided by our partner, the Botanical Garden-Institute of FEB RAS, and set off for the Waves of Fairytale treasure hunt, where they met characters of Russian folk tales. Strekoza (=Dragonfly) dancing group added color to the festive mood.
“This celebration was heartwarming, bright and interesting. We enjoyed watching the excitement and delight in both children and their parents. On behalf of the Environmental Education Division, I thank all the visitors for their time here. And we are so much obliged to our partners who helped us make this event truly memorable!” added Mikhail Kornienko.
