On 14 October, visitors of the Aquarium took part in the World Environmental Education Day celebration by participating in educational activities conducted in the exhibits.
Environmental education is vital today as we must learn how to live in harmony with nature and how to reduce our impact on the environment. The event was aimed at highlighting the importance of environmental education based on sound fundamentals of natural sciences and its role in the development of environmental literacy and problem-solving skills.
Our educators talked about the geological history of our country, the biodiversity of plants and animals in tropical rain forest, the wildlife of the Russian Far East seas and about amazing adaptations of animals and plants to their habitats. Moreover, our guests learned that ecology was not just about garbage pollution, but that it explored a much wider area: relationships among live organisms and interactions between organisms and the environment.
The participants of the event could also take an ECOsoZNANIEM (=ECO-CONSCIOUS-LITERACY) quiz. The post with the quiz answer keys is published in our Telegram channel.
